howto sync google calendar with apple ical
Posted on | May 3, 2006 |
since google calendar (http://calendar.google.com) was released I’m tempted to start using it. currently I’m trying to keep up with my schedule using apple’s ical, mainly because I almost always have my powerbook with me, plus it syncs easily with my phone.
so, what I’m looking for is a bidirectional, painless way to sync ical with google calendar… the best thing I found to date is this tutorial, describing a oneway method to fetch dates from google calendar > ical.
the tutorial can be found at http://www.tuaw.com/…

comments suggest, that the other way (ical > google calendar) might work as well using the “publish” feature in ical using your .mac-account. however, I couldn’t get this to work (using .mac)…while the export from ical seems to be ok (opening the calendar in firefox without a problem), it seems that google calendar is not able to fetch the original ical-file from the .mac-account. I guess .mac “recognizes” google calendar as a normal web-browser, and therefor doesn’t send the original ical file, but a browser-friendly html-version (which google can’t import). I’m quite optimistic that this might work when using any other webdav-share… unluckily I’ve no such thing at hand…:(
