Yahoo Search Assist: struggling for keywords

Search Engine Land’s Danny Sullivan has the scoop of Yahoo’s latest beta-product, Yahoo Search Assist. an iteration on type-ahead tools like Google Suggest or Yahoos own Search Suggest, Search Assist selectively suggests terms for refining a query by clustering common keywords within search-results. this should basically help in situations when users struggle to find the “right” keyword to refine their queries. in his screencast, Danny demonstrates the new feature - which is only available to a select number of users at the moment - by searching for Lego organizing systems.

looks like an appealing idea, although the user-interface seems to need some work from what I can tell based on the screencast (the gray Search Assist-box seems to snap in constantly when it should stay visible, and picking a suggested keyword requires two clicks to refresh the search-results).

btw: I just wanted to try out Yahoo Search Suggest which has launched 2 weeks ago, but wasn’t really able to find it within the default & advanced search-forms. any pointers to whether I have to activate this somewhere in my settings or if it simply isn’t rolled out yet?
