sorry for the very light flow of postings these days, loads of work of course being the reason. meanwhile here’s more nerdy stuff to watch online tonite - “Revolution OS”:
This is one of the finest documentaries created which traces the path taken by GNU, Free Software, Open Source and Linux. The whole documentary all of 1 hour and 10 minutes long consists of bits and pieces of conversation with various leaders of the community which of course includes Linus Torvalds, Eric Raymond, Richard M Stallman, Bruce Perens and many others.
(via All About Linux)
there’s a decent recording of John Batelle interviewing Google’s Eric Schmidt at last weeks Web 2.0 Expo on YouTube…including the funny part where Schmidt denies Google Office Docs, Spreadsheets & the recently announced presentation-module being in competition with Microsoft Office
(though I tend to agree, on the level of functionality).
btw: tv-channel ARTE had an interesting geek-special yesterday, including feature-film “Pirates of Silicon Valley” - a must for every true geek, this movie tells the story of the early days of Microsoft and Apple. plus: documentary “Who’s afraid of Google?”, which is also available online (link).
update: ARTE is going to repeat both programs this week:
pirates of silicon valley: may 26th, 15.15
who’s afraid of google: may 24th, 1:25
